Foodie stories from my adventures in the UK with my little family. With a passion for local and wild food, a rickety old vw campervan and a 4 year old in tow; it’s never dull. Follow the foodie adventures of Foodiemumontheroad.

I once picked winkles from the Helford River in Cornwell a while back. Having cooked them, I was the only one brave enough to eat them. The rest sat in mesmerised silence, waiting for me to die.
Having once chewed a raw cockle straight from the sand in Normandy, I have never done it again, as it was just like chewing on a wet, slippery eraser, and just as "tasty". Nevertheless, shellfish are high on the list of my favourite foods.
LOL PGB
That was a great day out, and those photos sum it up perfectly. (Except for not mentioning the unexpectedly long route march through the marshes.)
